We combine survey information, calculation software, and people, to produce cost effective, sustainable designs tailored to exceed client expectations.
Typical designs that Gemeng undertake range from 400V/230V distribution design to 650V signalling power design to earthing and bonding design.
The following examples show how our portfolio covers a range of Industry projects that differ in scale and budget.
Detection and location of both insulator and conductor faults on live low voltage unearthed power distribution systems in challenging environments.
Insulation monitoring and fault location systems required for use on power distribution system in selected areas. Gemeng liaise with clients & manufacturers of this new technology to undertake the design of cable monitoring system.
Planning & co-ordinating site surveys at sites with significant risk factors including limited access, tight programmes & Installation in areas with the best mobile phone coverage. extensive risk assessment, electrical calculations and conforming electrical Design of system is required.
We help deliver upgrades to existing insulation monitoring systems including proposal of mobile phone antennas at power cubicles, this system allows for signalling power supply systems to be split into sections for monitoring the power cables, hence enabling more efficient fault finding, more effective reactive/proactive works, and ability to further improve the system as required.
Nobody wants to turn the power off so it is obvious that most schemes require efficient changeovers of electricity supply whilst minimising downtime.
We frequently undertake a designs to enable continued use of one part of an existing Signalling Power system without losing power to other parts of the system.
With new elements of a 650V Signalling Power Supply & Distribution system to be integrated with the old and energised safely while minimising downtime, we provide specialist timely support to clients ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum with the successful staging and T&C of new equipment.
We have dedicated electrical services engineers who specialise in commercial installations, data centres and domestic installations.
We work with the top manufacturers and keep up to date with the latest technology to provide our clients with a variety of lighting design solutions, from commercial schemes to railway junction lighting etc. In addition to some indoor commercial lighting designs that we undertake on a regular basis we also design outdoor schemes.
As part of a regeneration undertaken by a local Council, a recent lighting design undertaken for one of our clients was an underpass lighting design. This area had long suffered from vandalism, graffiti and attracted complaints relating to inadequate lighting.
The area was prone to high levels of vandalism and was also frequented by wildlife whilst foraging. The design was undertaken in a sustainable manner, allowing installation teams to both minimise disturbance to local wildlife and install light fittings that would be suitable yet robust and aesthetically pleasing. Close liaison with lighting manufacturers and local council was required in order to deliver the project on time and within budget. Considerations, containment types, cable sizes, containment locations/routes and glare.
By producing a 3D model and presenting to the client, we could show how the installation would look once installed. Goals achieved through bespoke design & frequent correspondence with stakeholders ensuring that programme accounted for environmental impacts & proposed equipment not having adverse impact.
New EV charging points required at various locations enabling clients to work towards sustainability goals. Existing Power System Analysis required for proposed power supply design. Lighting design also provided ensuring required illuminance was present.
Challenges encountered included producing suitable site specific designs while considering specific external factors that had a negative affect on the existing electrical system.
With a requirement for bays to be supplied from existing power supply networks, there were significant constraints present due to the geographical locations and external system influences.
Detailed site surveys were undertaken including load monitoring. Design calculations and documentation produced detailing necessary power supply modifications and electrical protection requirements.
Through close relationships with clients and manufacturers, a site-by-site tailored design solution was provided, assisting the client with their plans to electrify their entire fleet in the coming years.
In addition to the day to day earthing and bonding proposals as part of our designs, we can also carry out bespoke designs as and when required by our clients.
Equipment located in areas with Live Overhead lines in close vicinity. In event of overhead line coming into contact with proposed equipment, path would be provided from the equipment back to the OLE installation.
We undertake our designs ensuring the LV system is assessed and if required, bonded to traction return via Suitably sized bonding conductors which we specify via the production of Site Layout drawings produced alongside reports identifying bond & cable route detail.
Our team also undertake site surveys of commercial installations and undertake condition assessments. We review existing information and undertake correlation exercises on site before recommending upgrades if required and/or undertaking design.
All of our designers are experienced in earthing and bonding across mission-critical, railway, pharmaceutical, industrial, healthcare, educational, infrastructure, and technology sectors.
